What is XRP?
XRP is the native asset of the XRP Ledger, a network built for rapid asset transfer and exchange. Validators compare candidate transactions and converge on a ledger without proof-of-work mining.
Every transaction destroys a small amount of XRP as an anti-spam cost. The network, asset and companies building products around them are related parts of an ecosystem, but they are not interchangeable entities.
XRP is the asset and XRP Ledger is the network; neither is the same thing as Ripple, the company.
