What is Worldcoin?
World combines World ID, a privacy-preserving proof-of-personhood system, with World Chain and the WLD token. WLD is intended for ecosystem use and future governance, while eligible users in supported jurisdictions may claim allocations after proving uniqueness through the project’s verification process.
The token and identity system should be assessed separately. WLD ownership does not prove a wallet belongs to a unique human, while biometric hardware, data handling, geographic availability and regulatory restrictions create risks that market-cap figures cannot capture. Circulating supply also expands as community, team and investor allocations unlock.
WLD is not a transferable World ID: a person can use the identity protocol without token ownership, and holding tokens does not prove personhood.
