What is USDD?
The current version of USDD is designed as an overcollateralized stablecoin. Users lock approved crypto assets to create USDD, while debt ceilings, liquidation rules and a peg-stability module are intended to keep liabilities covered and the market price near one dollar.
This differs from both a cash-reserve issuer token and the older algorithmic framing sometimes associated with the name. The peg still depends on collateral liquidity, oracle accuracy, liquidation execution, contract security, governance and the quality of any stable assets accepted by the system.
Current USDD documentation describes a crypto-collateralized vault system; analysis based only on the original 2022 mechanism can be outdated.
