What is PayPal USD?
PayPal USD is issued by Paxos and integrated into PayPal services as well as public blockchain applications. The issuer states that reserves consist of dollar deposits, US Treasuries and similar cash equivalents and publishes reserve reports and attestations.
PYUSD can exist natively on more than one supported chain, so users must verify the network and contract before transferring it. A one-dollar reference price does not remove issuer, reserve, smart-contract, custody or secondary-market liquidity risk.
Holding PYUSD in a self-custody wallet is not the same legal arrangement as holding a PayPal account balance or an insured bank deposit.
