What is Gram (prev. Toncoin)?
Gram is the current official name for the native currency of TON Blockchain, following a network governance vote that retired the Toncoin name. GRAM pays computation, storage and message-forwarding fees and is posted by validators or nominators to participate in proof-of-stake security.
TON is designed to split work across shardchains as load changes, with the masterchain coordinating network state. Telegram distribution can drive usage, but TON is an independent public blockchain; use inside a Telegram application does not mean Telegram guarantees the asset or the application.
Gram is the renamed native TON currency, not a new token that replaced balances through a separate airdrop or migration.
