What is Shiba Inu?
SHIB began as an Ethereum meme token and later became part of an ecosystem including decentralized exchange, identity and Shibarium applications. SHIB itself remains an ERC-20 asset whose transfers inherit Ethereum’s settlement security and gas costs.
The broader ecosystem uses multiple tokens with distinct jobs. In particular, BONE—not SHIB—is the native gas token used on Shibarium. Community attention and integrations can influence demand, but SHIB does not represent ownership of the teams or businesses building around the brand.
SHIB is not the gas asset of Shibarium; BONE pays the layer-2 network’s gas fees.
