What is OKB?
OKB evolved from an exchange utility token into the sole native gas asset of X Layer, an Ethereum-compatible network associated with OKX. The older Ethereum version has been phased out through a migration process, so chain and contract verification matter when moving tokens.
In August 2025, the project announced a burn of more than 65 million treasury and historically repurchased OKB and upgraded the contract to fix total supply at 21 million. Scarcity does not itself create use: demand still depends on X Layer activity, ecosystem integrations and the operational and regulatory position of associated companies.
OKB’s current model is no longer the old recurring exchange buyback-and-burn schedule; supply was fixed after the 2025 contract upgrade.
